Cookie Craft

Cookie consent for Joomla 3, 4 and 5

Cookie consent for Joomla, installed as a native system plugin. Consent Mode v2, GTM and pixels included. One licence, unlimited subdomains.

Why Joomla sites need consent that actually blocks

Joomla runs a substantial number of institutional, educational and business websites — often multilingual, often with several sites under one organisation’s domain. That last characteristic makes the licensing model unusually relevant here.

Installing on Joomla

01

Upload the package

System → Install → Extensions → Upload Package File (on Joomla 3: Extensions → Manage → Install).

02

Enable the plugin

System → Manage → Plugins, find Cookie Craft, set its status to Enabled. This step is not optional.

03

Clear the cache

System → Clear Cache so the front end picks up the change. Realistic time: 5 to 10 minutes.

What’s specific to Joomla

Joomla installs plugins in a disabled state. Every single time. This is the most common reason people believe a Joomla extension failed: it uploaded successfully, reported success, and does nothing at all, because it is sitting there switched off. Our guide treats enabling as a numbered step rather than an afterthought, because on this platform it is the difference between working and not working.

Joomla stores its database credentials in configuration.php at the site root, in a JConfig class. Cookie Craft reads them directly, so the installer arrives already filled in.

Included on Joomla, not upsold

No feature is held back for a higher tier. One plan, everything in it.

Google Consent Mode v2

The four signals GA4 and Google Ads need to run properly in the EEA — analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization — set from your visitor’s real choice.

GTM, Meta & TikTok

Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel get base placement and consent-aware loading — no snippets pasted into your Joomla templates, no second plugin to gate them. Your tracking plan still defines the events and conversions.

One licence, one root domain

A university, public institution or group of companies often runs several Joomla sites on subdomains of one root domain. One licence covers all of them, including staging copies, with no per-installation counting.

A guide for your exact site

Your install guide is generated with your real Joomla paths already filled in, in twelve languages — no example.com placeholders to translate into your own setup.

Why it matters here

Joomla sites are frequently multilingual by default, and the consent banner has to match. Language support in Cookie Craft is part of the product, not a higher plan — which matters on a platform where running three or four languages is normal rather than exceptional.

The other Joomla-specific fit is organisational: the single-root-domain licence maps cleanly onto how institutions actually run their web estate.

What it does — and what it doesn’t

Cookie Craft does not scan your Joomla site to discover cookies automatically, and it does not write your privacy policy for you. It gives you the mechanism: a banner your visitors actually interact with, real blocking of the scripts you configure, and correct Consent Mode v2 signals to Google. What you declare in it is up to you.

Consent for Joomla, done properly.
